Get involved

There are many ways you can become involved and contribute to the work the PHANZ does. One of the best ways, of course, is to join us

Memberships are individual and costs are kept low and tailored to income. However, if you choose not to become a member you are still welcome to contribute to our various activities such as special interest groups and policy committees based on your expertise. You can find out more about these activities below.

Activities you could be involved in

The PHANZ is always busy influencing public policy through the submission process; reviewing its own policy statements; or working on individual issues via special interest groups.

These could be great ways for you to get involved and become more connected with others that share your passion for pubic health.

Special interest groups

Special interest groups (SIGs) are national groups organised by PHA NZ members to focus on a particular public health issue.

We have one actively working at the moment on Institutional Racism. Or you may be interested in forming your own special interest group. If so, please get in touch. We can help you to start a group or put you in touch with other like-minded members.

If you are interested in getting involved or creating a SIG please contact the National Office via email admin@pha.org.nz

Submissions

The PHANZ keeps a detailed list of all the public health related submission opportunities happening in coming months that we share via our monthly pānui and we make submissions on those we deem most important.

Please get in touch with us at admin@pha.org.nz if you are interested in making a submission on an issue that is important to you or if you need some support or advice on how to go about it.

We are keen to help you.

Policy development

The PHANZ regularly produces new policy statements or reviews existing ones to ensure they are current and informed by the latest evidence-based research. If you would like to contribute to our policy development either by creating a new statement on an important public health issue, peer-reviewing a policy statement, or suggesting another Organisations policy position statement to be endorsed by PHANZ, contact admin@pha.org.nz and we can discuss further.
